AMISYS Introduces Release 11 of AMISYS 3000 Product

Care Choices completes beta testing of HIPAA-enabled software

ROCKVILLE, MD., January 29, 2002 - AMISYS, LLC, which offers information management solutions for health care payers, has introduced the newest addition to its highly evolved AMISYS 3000 product suite.

AMISYS 3000 Release 11 encompasses all of the features of prior AMISYS 3000 products and will assist customers in meeting the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), a federal regulation affecting nearly the entire health care industry. This product is designed to capture the data content required to support HIPAA-standard transaction code sets, including utilizing HIPAA-standard data elements and storing HIPAA-mandated data elements not required for claims processing in an EDI Supplemental Database.

"Our promise to develop and offer this product on January 28th has been kept," said Kathy McCarthy, chief operating officer of AMISYS. "This is another example of AMISYS's stability and commitment to its customers. We continue to deliver solutions to meet the needs of our customers from HIPAA compliance to timely product launches."

In addition, the AMISYS HIPAA Transaction Manager, a comprehensive tool that accelerates the process of receiving and returning HIPAA-standard transactions, is functional with Release 11. The HIPAA Transaction Manager is a value-added product and is the only HIPAA solution built and tested for the AMISYS 3000 system.

Beginning in Nov. 2001, Care Choices, a non-profit health care organization and subsidiary of Trinity Health, piloted the Release 11 product for 10-weeks. During that time, the Care Choices testing team worked with AMISYS staff to identify and resolve critical business issues before the product's January release to all customers.

Care Choices implemented the AMISYS 3000 product suite in 1996 and utilizes the product to process electronic claims, as well as to manage its HMO, Medicaid and PPO business functions.

"Care Choices is committed to meeting the requirements of HIPAA," said Laurie Westfall, chief administrative officer for Care Choices. "Beta testing the HIPAA-enabled AMISYS Release 11 software has furthered our efforts in complying with these important federal mandates. We fully expect to meet the October 2002 deadline for compliance with the HIPAA transaction code set requirements."

The AMISYS 3000 product line offers fully-automated applications including: benefit plan design and management; membership enrollment and eligibility; claims adjudication and payment; provider contract management, pricing and credentialing; financial applications; medical management; customer service/phone log; reporting; and security.
