Care Choices Announces Chief Medical Officer
FARMINGTON
HILLS, Mich., June 16, 2003 - Care Choices has appointed Gilbert
Burgos, MD, MPH, as Chief Medical Officer. In this role, Dr. Burgos
will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership
for Care Choices medical affairs area including pharmacy and medical
management.
In making the announcement, William Alvin, President and CEO of Care
Choices, said, "Dr. Burgos brings a wealth of knowledge about
medical management and health-care operations from his wide-ranging
experience with health plans and physician relations."
Most recently, Dr. Burgos served as Senior Vice President/Medical
Director for Vista Health Plan in Florida, where he had responsibility
for integrating the medical operations of three merged health plans.
His health care leadership experience also includes serving as Executive
Director, Medical Resource Management, for Kaiser Permanente in Rockville,
Md.; as Chairman, Department of Adult Medicine, for Humana/Mitchell-Trotman
Medical Group, in Washington, D.C.; and as Associate Medical Director
for Humana Health Plan in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Burgos earned his bachelor's degree from Fordham University and
his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He holds
a master's degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
He is board certified in internal medicine, and is a Board Certified
Physician Executive through the American College of Physician Executives.
