Greater Detroit Area Health Council Honors Care Choices
HMO
Farmington Hills, MI. - The Greater Detroit Area Health Council
(GDAHC) awarded Care Choices HMO with two "Best in Class" awards
at their annual October conference for their work in health care.
Care Choices and five other area health plans were honored for their
collaborative
initiative Disease Management project work on "Asthma 101".
Additionally, Care Choices received a "Best in Class" award
for obtaining a 100% score for website request capabilities.
Over 20 health plans from Michigan, Pennsylvania and Indiana participated
in
the award process for Best in Class.
"We are extremely proud of our continued work in educating our
members and providers on health care," said Bill Alvin, President
and CEO of Care Choices, "and we strive to provide the best healthcare
in the communities we serve." The goal of the Asthma 101 project
was to help educate providers and members on asthma as well as delivering
one consistent message. Care Choices web capability allows external
audiences to have health care information at their fingertips. The
requirements, all of which were met by Care Choices, included access
to the provider directory, health education, e-mail access for consumers,
availability of drug formularies, provision of plan policies and clinical
guidelines and personal medical charting.
