Care Choices Selects MEDecision Software

WAYNE, Pa. - MEDecision Inc., a market leader in medical management software, today announced that Care Choices of Farmington Hills, Michigan, has licensed MEDecision's CarePlanner™ software for case, disease and utilization management. CarePlanner will be used by Care Choices HMO to improve patient care and reduce administrative costs.

Care Choices HMO serves more than 130,000 members in Michigan and has over 4,000 physicians and 41 hospitals in their network. Care Choices HMO has been ranked as one of the nation's highest rated health care plans. This year the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) awarded Care Choices Commercial HMO its highest accreditation status of Excellent. This places Care Choices among the top 15 percent of all health care plans nationwide.

Included in the licensing agreement is MEDecision's CarePlanner software for case, disease and utilization management. St.Clair added that all of MEDecision's products can be tailored to meet the individual needs of managed care organizations and to link with existing claims and other medical management software. The products also are designed to protect the confidentiality of patient records in compliance with evolving standards, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
