Care Choices Quality and Value is Recognized

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI. - Care Choices has always been committed to the value and quality of health care it provides to its members. Care Choices and its provider partners work together to continuously measure and improve the value of health care services. Our goal is to be the best in our key markets at meeting the evolving needs of our customers.

We are proud of the numerous awards and recognition we have received such as the following:

  • Care Choices was profiled in the NCQA annual State of Managed Care Quality 2000 report, as one of six plans nationally for work in helping patients to get needed care.

  • Care Choices received a "Best in Class" award for Disease Management by the Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC). This award was in honor of the physician profiling efforts of our largest provider partner and how the initiative is used to improve disease management for patients.

  • Care Choices received a second "Best in Class" award for Patient Safety and Clinical Guidelines by GDAHC. This award honored our efforts to partner with other Michigan based health plans towards expanding initiatives to improve patient safety in our participating hospitals. The award also honors the continued efforts of our Medical Management staff to develop and distribute standard and consistent clinical practice guidelines for physicians.

  • Daimler Chrysler named Care Choices a "benchmark" health plan for their 2001 enrollment period. Daimler Chrysler conducted an extensive audit of Care Choices' programs and services before determining that our quality meets their "benchmark" status.

  • Care Choices was rated as **** (4 stars - significantly above average) for all four quality measures in the 2000-2001 Consumers Guide to Health Maintenance organizations as produced by the Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC) and the Alliance for Health in West Michigan. Quality measures included: Doctor communication and service; access and service; Staying Healthy and Getting Better and Living with illness.

  • During the 1999 review year, Care Choices was awarded "Best in Class" for successful Plan/Provider Partnerships by the Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC). The award was based on Care Choices' collaboration with providers in several process improvement initiatives in the areas of claims payment, disease management and care management.

Through partnerships, technology and hard work, we will continue to set priorities that will keep our members, physicians and purchasers foremost in our plans for future growth.
