Continuing Medical Education (CME)

The American Cancer Society (ACS) provides free online continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Overview

This continuing medical education activity will provide state-of-the-art
information and recommendations on colorectal cancer prevention and early
detection. Presentations by internationally renowned faculty will address risk
factors, prevention strategies, screening options, and the role of promising new
technologies, including virtual colonoscopy and molecular stool screening. The
tremendous power of screening to reduce suffering and death from Colorectal
Cancer will be emphasized.

Learning Objectives

From this CME activity, participants will learn to:

  • Recognize risk factors, prevention strategies, and identify individuals
    who are at increased risk
  • Develop appropriate screening strategies and intervals based on patient
    risk profiles
  • Understand the benefits and limitations of the various screening
    methodologies and new technologies
  • Incorporate proven strategies to enhance cancer screening and follow-up
    of abnormal tests
